Kayaking or Paddleboarding around the coastline or exploring the estuaries is an excellent way to spend your time here, expecially when the surfs flat! There are numerous operators offering kayak hire and tours to WHenuakura (Donut) Island. The wildlife sanctuary located some 600 metres off the shoreline of Whangamata beach with its internal lagoon and donut like appearance is truly serene and has to be experienced to be believed. There are some 'Do's' & 'Donts' when visiting here so please ask us about these and be respectful to the environment.
